Giovanni Mele, Artistic Director and Owner of Giovanni and Pileggi, descends from a family of hair professionals dating back for more than a century. He has trained in the United States as well as in Europe, focusing not only on cutting but also color technique. He remains a vanguard of the hair industry through his work with runway, platform, and print.
Giovanni has been featured in national publications such as InStyle, Allure, Seventeen, and Vogue, and on beauty websites such as Harpersbazaar.com, AOL Shopping and Glam.com. Perhaps Giovanni's greatest achievement to date is receiving the prestigious North American Hair Stylist of the Year Award in 1996. Giovanni continues to be recognized for his artistry and has been named the "High Priest of Hair," "Trend Visionary" and "Best of Style."
"It seems to me that being a part of the hair industry is the best way for me to express my creativity."
Joey joined the Giovanni & Pileggi staff right after graduating from cosmetology school in 2009. For several years, he has demonstrated his ability to work hard and deliver results. Joey is certified in hair cutting by Wella International, but credits Giovanni's Spring and Fall training classes to helping him sharpen his professional and communication skills. "By understanding the client's needs, wants, and wishes, you get to see your vision come to life."
Like many of our stylists, Missy joined our salon training program after graduation from cosmetology school 15 years ago. She began as an assistant at Pileggi On the Square and when Giovanni opened Giovanni & Pileggi in 1996, she became a stylist there and the rest is history.
In addition to advanced training in the United States and Europe, Missy credits the salon’s training program, and most of all, Giovanni, as having the greatest influence on her work. “I wanted to be a stylist since I was a little girl – I always wanted to make people look fabulous.”
Missy received the “Best of Philly” award for “Best Blow Dry” and has appeared on the local NBC, FOX, and CW networks in various beauty and fashion segments featuring hair color, hair extensions, and hair care advice.
“Every person has a distinct look that’s unique to them; I love being able to use my creativity in a way that makes people happy with their appearance.”
